I love making this recipe for the 4th of July, it looks so patriotic! Plus my daughter loves them, so that’s a ++. However, the first time I made these, it looked like a package of cream cheese exploded in my kitchen, LOL! But everyone loved them, so I had to find a way to make them without all the mess.
You can make them anytime, but the do look festive for the 4th! In order to keep kitchen slightly clean, when you go to pipe the filling in the strawberries, use a zip lock bag, and zip it up, the first time I made them, I made such a mess, I used a regular piping bag and I don’t think it was big enough, and filling was everywhere, I laugh sort of about it now, but ugh, the clean up was awful. Now I make sure I use a Ziploc bag and close the top!
20 strawberries, hulled and at the tip cut an X
1 8 oz. block of cream cheese
1/4 cup of confectionery sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar and vanilla, whip until light and fluffy. Put cream cheese mixture in a bag, fitted with a piping tip and pipe cream cheese mixture into the X and out of the strawberry, top with a blueberry
