Just because my daughter’s tooo old to trick or treat, doesn’t mean I have to give up the holiday! I love making homemade treats to give to friend’s kids and I know some little boy’s that are going to love these Caramel Apples and some little grave stones and ghost!
Everything’s super easy to do, but looks super impressive!
Look at those cute little ghost! And the other little white cookies will become tombstones!
Start with some well washed apples, and in Halloween Spirit, stab them with a Popsicle stick.
Unwrap some caramels add a little water and microwave until melted
Then just dip your apples in the caramel and put them on a sheet pan lined with parchment or silpat sheet that’s greased well and refrigerate. If you want, you can dip them in assorted crushed candies or cookie crumbs or mini marshmallows, but I kept mine simple and classic and when they harden, I drizzled them with melted chocolate!!
For the ghost, I cut off just the bottoms of a Milano cookie and dipped them in melted white chocolate and put some googly eyes on them. Then for the grave stones, I cut the Milano’s in half, dipped them in white chocolate, let them set up, then put a brown chocolate melt in a plastic bag, microwaved, and put a small hole in the bag and piped on RIP! So cute, fun and delicious.
1 bag of caramels, unwrapped
2 TBSP water
any decoration you want to add after dipped
5 to 6 apples, washed and dried
In a microwave safe bowl, add caramels and water. Microwave 30 seconds at time until melted, 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. While caramel is microwaving remove the stems from the apples and insert a Popsicle stick where you removed the stem. When caramel is melted, dip apples in caramel, spooning over if necessary. If you are using sprinkles or other decorations, roll apples in them now. If using chocolate what until they are set and drizzle melted chocolate. I like to use Almond Bark chocolate, just break off some of the bark and microwave in a microwave safe bowl 30 seconds intervals until melted.
