Healthy Turkey Sloppy Joes



I love these Sloppy Joe’s, there healthy, fast and the only thing that’s in a can is a can of tomato sauce.  There’s fresh veggies in them and I serve them on wheat hotdog rolls.  I know everyone uses a hamburger roll, but the hotdog roll is neater and lots of times lower in calories! Pair these with sweet potato fries and you got a healthy dinner that kids will love!

Healthy Turkey Sloppy Joes

1 to 1.25 lbs. of ground turkey

1 TBSP brown sugar

2 TBSP grill seasoning

1 medium onion, chopped

1 bell pepper, chopped

1 TBSP apple cider vinegar

1 15 oz can of tomato sauce

1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper(optional)

In a skillet, add your turkey and break it up, then add onion and pepper and heat to medium.  Cook stirring occasionally until turkey is done.  Then add sugar, grill seasoning, cayenne pepper if using(it gives it just a little kick), vinegar and tomato sauce, reduce to low and simmer 15 minutes. Serve on whatever kind of buns you have!
