Orange Brownies

One of the first times I made this recipe, I took them to our Op Shop Bake Sale, and a lady came up eating one, talking about how good they were.  I said anything with 2 sticks of butter, has to be good!  These are definitely not health food, but, they’re good food.  Very simple with basic ingredients, they come together quickly and disappear quickly

Flour, orange zest, orange extract, eggs, butter & sugar combine to make an amazing batter

Mix together and bake, then top with and orange glaze to take them over the top

Orange Brownies

  • Servings: 24 squares

1 1/2 cup flour

2 cups sugar

1 tsp. salt

2 sticks of butter, soften

4 eggs

2 tsp. orange extract

Zest of half an orange

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 13 x 9 pan with foil and spray foil with nonstick spray.  In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt.  Add butter, eggs, extract & zest and with a hand mixer, mix until well combined.  Pour batter in pan and bake for 30 minutes until lightly brown.

Glaze:

Zest of half an orange

Juice of 1 orange

1 cup of confectionery sugar

Combine all the ingredients, adding for sugar or juice/water so it’s pourable. Pour over brownies and let them cool completely, remove them from the pan by the foil overhang and cut into squares
