Tag your it!

This very lovely blogger Caressa from Lattecuddles was so nice and tagged me in Tag your It Challenge, where you share a little about yourself.  In this challenge, you answer five questions, and tag a few people to take the challenge as well. Hopefully, gain some traffic for yourself as well as whoever you tag, will also get some more traffic.

How did you get into Blogging?

For years, I’ve loved going to Farmers Markets. I love seeing the fresh foods, I love meeting the people at the markets and I love talking to the people who produce the foods we’re going to eat.  I always want to learn what they do with what they produce, I’m interested in how they keep the produce as fresh as possible for as long as possible, and finally how to preserve whatever they have for the winter.  Last year when I was going to the weekly farmer market in my town, people started asking me what I was going to do with what I was buying, probably because I always go, so they see me a lot.  A friend that has a stand there thought it would be a great idea if I started writing recipes each week to go along with whatever they would be selling that week. It’s worked out great, they sell out of whatever I usually feature, and people really love seeing what I’ve written about that week… so starting a blog came out of that idea.  And I’ve loved every minute of it!

What advice would you give a blogger starting out?

Become very good friends with social media.  This is something I think I struggle with, because social media was never that important to me before, and I tend to be a very private person, so I never posted anything before becoming a blogger.  I had Facebook, because me daughter set me up with one, where I basically stalked people that crafted or cooked, but I never really got involved with Facebook.  I never really used Twitter, except to see breaking news.  I was sort of into Pinterest, but just to pin things I saw, so the social media aspect of being a blogger is very challenging to me.  However, if you’re going to be a blogger, you have to do basically every social media there is to get noticed, so become friends!

What would be your dream campaign?

I love food, so any food based campaign would be a dream.  However, something I hope to do someday, I frequently see where a farm or a dairy invite bloggers out to tour their farms and that would be a real dream for me to be invited.

Do you have a plan for your blog?

Sure, I’d love to think my blog would grow, and I’d be involved in campaigns. I’d love to think that when my email shows up in people’s inbox, they can’t wait to see what I’m doing in the kitchen!  Right now, I’m trying to focus on taking better photos and writing the best content that I can.

What do you think about ratings?

As I said earlier, I’m not super savvy about social media, and I’m struggling to find my way around that, so ratings aren’t something I’m worrying a lot about right now.  I probably should, but right now I’m enjoying seeing people liking my post and so far I’ve only enjoyed nice comments(I know that’ll probably change).  I’m sure ratings are important, but I really haven’t had time to focus on them yet.
